Never think that war, no matter how necessary, nor how justified, is not a crime.
Ernest Hemingway

We are, this month, on the eve of the end of the Iraq War. George Walker Bush’s war era is nearing its end.

Bush

George Walker Bush

Our good soldiers are coming home, their employ in Iraq and Afghanistan near complete, but George Bush’s work is not yet done. Bush’s miscalculations, his deceit, his manipulations beg redress.

Six thousand two hundred eighty apologies are owed, Mr. Bush.

Lives lost, never to live again.

Families damaged beyond repair.

Hearts truly and sadly broken.

Two countries were invaded illegally (yes, illegally, George). Neither country had attacked nor threatened us. Let it be said – and wholly understood – that our only war was with the terrorist group Al Qaeda….not Iraq….not Afghanistan. What should have been a series of well- orchestrated, strategic counter-terrorism ops became instead a staging ground for wholesale invasion.

At the tragic expense of American lives, George got exactly what he wanted from Iraq: The Iraq Hydrocarbon Law, and those wonderfully golden – and highly sought after – PSA’s (production share agreements, which guarantee profits for foreign-owned oil companies). George’s friends are thus happy. George’s friends are content.

Never once has George apologized for unnecessarily losing lives in Iraq. He’s never once apologized for his poorly-sourced information. Never once has he apologized for knowingly using forged intelligence documents. Never once has he apologized for his migrating justification for continuing his war. First it was all 9/11, riling us up good. Then it was Iraq being a ‘potential’ safe-haven for terrorists. Then it was WMDs (Hans Blix reports be damned: “Had the inspections continued for another two months, it would have been much more difficult to start the war.”). Then it was that Texan-themed logic of “fight them there, or fight ‘em here“. Then it finally migrated into the very sad irony of invading another country in order to “spread democracy”. Ugly, ugly stuff, George.

We’re still waiting for your apologies. 6,280 of them, in fact.

We will never forget.

  1. Yowza. It’s the reason I keep reading the stuff here. Agree, agree, agree.

    • Me too. Me too. Me too. :-)

  2. It’s powerful. And needed.

    Again, well said.

    Thank you for your voice.

    • Hi Sparrow. Just wanted you to know that i agree with you. Thanks for your voice too. ^^

  3. Guys…why did GWB get away with his crimes? Because BigMoney controls our govt and BigMoney is the one that benefited from the GWB presidency. I hate to say it, but it’s that simple. You can do whatever you like as long as BigMoney likes it.

  4. Bravo and amen.

  5. Wondering if we’ll ever get that Bush apology. Don’t think we’ll see one from Cheney…. Hope so though. A good man should apologize for his wrongdoing.

  6. Makes me angry, tbh, to think of a single life lost thanks to George Bush. No one should have died for that man.

  7. It’s actually way more apologies than 6280. Much more. Much, much more. This man (Bush) has to apologize not only for the lives lost, but for the lives wound3d. And not just American lives. He should also apologize for Iraqi lives lost. What could have been accomplished diplomatically, will not be accomplished militarily, despite those PSAs. Just my two cents.
